Ex-Coon Rapids Cop Sentenced For Sexually Assaulting Child
ANOKA (WCCO) -- A 61-year-old former Coon Rapids police officer has been sentenced to prison for the sexual assault of a child between 1984 and 1987, according to the Anoka County Attorney's Office.
In Anoka County District Court Friday, Joseph L. Hunt received 41 months in prison, which is within the sentencing guidelines in effect at the time of the crimes.
In January 2012, Hunt pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct for the acts, which occurred specifically between Dec. 23, 1984 and June 1, 1987. He admitted that during this time, he repeatedly performed sex acts on the victim, who was between 13 and 15 years of age.
Authorities say this occurred while Hunt was in a position of authority over the victim.
Hunt was a police officer with the Coon Rapids Police Department from 1977 to 2004.
