Ex-Albert Lea City Manager Gets 90 Days Monitoring
ALBERT LEA, Minn. (AP) -- Former Albert Lea City Manager Jim Norman has been sentenced to 90 days electronic home monitoring and five years probation for using the city-issued credit card for personal purchases.
Judge Fred Wellmann let Norman choose between 45 days in jail or electronic home monitoring at his own expense. Norman chose home monitoring and has one week to get the monitoring in place.
A jury in May found Norman guilty on seven counts tied to misusing the city-issued credit card for personal purchases.
The convictions involved charging $2,300 of personal purchases during Norman's first few months as city manager. He said he thought the issue could have been cleared up with a simple explanation.
The Albert Lea Tribune reports Norman declined to comment on a possible appeal.
