Evidence Released In Amy Senser Hit-And-Run Trial

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Hennepin County Courthouse released evidence used in the Amy Senser fatal hit-and-run trial Monday afternoon -- including photos that show the damage to the Mercedes SUV.
The prosecution relied heavily on pictures of the scene, and the damage to the SUV, to get a conviction on three of the four charges, two for felony criminal vehicular homicide and one for misdemeanor careless driving.
The evidence is but a snapshot of the night of Aug. 23, 2011. On the Riverside Avenue exit, Amy Senser hit and killed Anousone Phanthavong, but kept driving.
"The biggest thing we had a concern about was the damage to the car," said Jay Larson, a juror, in an interview Friday.

Phanthavong hit the front right bumper of the vehicle while filling his stalled car with gas.
For juror Jay Larson, the damage to the headlight raised questions.
"Her headlight was gone and to not stop, to take a look, was a concern to us," said Larson.
State Patrol investigators also took pictures of the Riverside Avenue exit ramp shortly after the crash. The pictures show the street lights were out due to construction in the area. But the pictures also show that Phanthavong's hazard lights were on while his vehicle was stalled.
Phone records used during the trial included the Senser's cell phone and text history in the days before and after the crash.
The evidence was circumstantial; Larson said that made the deliberations difficult.
There were also 911 recordings of people reporting the crash. Those calls won't be available until a later date.
