WATCH: Ethan Glynn, Justin Jefferson share special moment on sideline before Vikings' win over 49ers
MINNEAPOLIS — One tough high school athlete got to meet a superstar Monday night.
Ethan Glynn is a sophomore at Bloomington's Jefferson High School who was paralyzed during a football game last year.
Glynn was on the sideline Monday for pregame warmups. To his surprise, the Vikings' all-star wide receiver Justin Jefferson came over to say hi, pose for a quick picture and sign his jersey. Jefferson also wrote "Griddy" under his signature.
"That was crazy," Glynn said.
Glynn said he had no idea he was going to meet Jefferson.
"Surprised me as much as it surprised you," he said.
Jefferson is on injured reserve and didn't play in Monday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers. His replacement, rookie Jordan Addison, caught seven passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
The Vikings beat the 49ers 22-17, thanks in part to three turnovers by the defense and stellar performances by Addison, quarterback Kirk Cousins, tight end T.J. Hockenson and the entire offensive line.
Jefferson will be out for a minimum of two more games, though the Vikings have not announced an exact timeline for his return.
This summer, nearly a year after his injury, Glynn's neighbors, teammates, friends and family came together to support the construction of a new, ADA-compliant home for him and his family.
Glynn is still involved with Jefferson's sports teams, coaching up and inspiring his teammates.
The Vikings are now 3-4 and have a matchup with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
