Eastbound I-694 To Close For Bridge Painting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A major highway in the north metro will be closed this weekend as crews resume painting bridges in the area.
Eastbound Interstate 694 from East River Road to Interstate 35W will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen Monday by 5 a.m., according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will paint five bridges: the BNSF Railroad bridge, the Main Street bridge, the Long Lake Road bridge, the Minnesota Commercial Railroad bridge and the Fifth Avenue bridge.
Motorists will be instructed to follow a detour north on Highway 252, east on Highway 610 and Highway 10 and then back south on I-35W.
The sections of the bridges over the eastbound side of the highway will require one additional weekend of painting. The parts over the westbound lanes will require three weekends to paint, MnDOT said.
