Early Black Friday Offers Anger Best Buy's Online Shoppers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Best Buy's website is up and running at full capacity following a glitch Monday that aggravated loyalty program customers getting an early shot at Black Friday deals.
Many took their frustrations to social media, complaining that it took as long as an hour to complete their transactions.
Company spokesperson Amy Von Walter says the delays were caused by a problem with a sales tax calculator during the checkout process, which in turn, forced workers to manually manage the incoming web traffic.
Von Walter says Best Buy saw unprecedented traffic on its site during the promotion.

Meanwhile, the company is reporting dismal third quarter earnings today, and its stock has fallen by a third so far this year.
Best Buy's CEO recently outlined his plans for a turnaround on Wall Street, with the hope that strong holiday sales will help get the retail giant back on track.
