Eagan Woman Forced To Deliver Baby At Home On Bathroom Floor
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Having a baby is not easy. It's even more challenging if you end up not being able to leave your house for the delivery.
But that's just how it went down for Angela Reinders of Eagan last week.
Early Saturday morning, Reinders was heading to the car where her husband was waiting to take them to the hospital, but felt the baby coming, she so went back inside.
Luckily, Reinders' sister was there to help watch their 2-year-old daughter.
"My sister ended up delivering my baby, which was a little wild," she said.
Her sister has no formal training.
"She is a student at George Washington University and home for the semester and just happened to be my babysitter and ended up being a midwife," Reinders said.
They called 911 and the dispatcher walked them through the whole deal inside the home's bathroom.
"It was only about a 10-minute phone call and then the baby was here," Reinders said
Reinders says the baby, Maggie, is doing fine.
"She is the calmest little thing. I wouldn't have believed it after this traumatic delivery, but maybe she just gets what she wants and then quiets down," Reinders said, laughing.
Reinders says her 2-year-old daughter slept through the whole thing.
