Durant Visits Lynx Game, Says He'll Donate $1M To Tornado Relief
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- NBA superstar Kevin Durant, of the Oklahoma City Thunder, was court side on Tuesday in Minneapolis, watching Monica Wright of the Lynx take on Connecticut.
Durant calls Oklahoma City his "home" and said he drives through the city most affected by Monday's massive tornado damage – Moore – all the time.
He added that he plans on visiting local hospitals when he returns on Wednesday.
Durant's also helping out financially, pledging $1 million to help out Oklahoma citizens in need. The Thunder matched it, and so did the NBA and the players' union.
The Red Cross is accepting $10 pledges from people who text "REDCROSS" to 90999. People can also donate at the organization's website.
And as far as supporting the WNBA and women's college basketball, Durant said he appreciates the skill level no matter the gender.
