Dump Truck Rolls Over In Metro, Killing 1
SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A rollover accident involving a dump truck has killed at least one person in the east metro Saturday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Lt. Eric Roeske said the accident happened around 5 a.m. near eastbound Interstate 494 and 7th Avenue in South St. Paul.
Authorities said the dump truck went off the freeway, hit several parked cars and overturned. The driver of the dump truck was not wearing a seatbelt and died. The Minnesota State Patrol identified the driver as David Peterson, a 45-year-old man from Hanover.
As of 7:45 a.m., the two right lanes of I-494 were still closed as crews cleaned up the scene, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
