Duluth Schools Facing $7M Deficit
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- The Duluth school superintendent says the district's financial state is "not a pretty picture."
The school district is expecting a deficit of more than $7 million next year, nearly $3 million more than last year's shortfall. The school board met with administrators, labor leaders and staff Tuesday night to talk about ways to make cuts.
The list of possible reductions include laying off four administrators, reducing athletics and special education spending and cutting custodial services.
The Duluth News Tribune says the school district will hold a series of community meetings on the budget, with final passage expected in June.
