Duluth Man Pleads Guilty In Child Sex-Assault Case
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A rural Duluth man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.
Thirty-year-old Timothy Paul Martin-Tungren pleaded guilty Monday to one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. In exchange, prosecutors dropped the other charges.
The two sides agreed to cap Martin-Tungren's prison sentence at nearly eight years, although the defense can ask for a lesser sentence.
While testifying, the Duluth News Tribune reports Martin-Tungren said he was drunk on the night in question and doesn't remember what happened. But he admitted there's no reason to dispute the victim's account.
Martin-Tungren has been in jail on $125,000 bail since being charged last June.
