Duck Dynasty Stars Coming To Benefit 2 Christian Schools
CHASKA, Minn. (WCCO) -- It's watched by millions of television viewers each week -- a show featuring a family of camouflage-clad characters and their ZZ Top theme song.
A & E's Duck Dynasty is a reality TV series like no other.
"Everybody can really relate to them. They're just everyday people, just doing funny things we can relate to everyday," said high school sophomore Sarah Verdoorn.
The reality show follows members of the Robertson family and their hugely successful duck call business, Duck Commander. But it's the character's clean and quirky humor that is creating so much buzz.
"To bring in the Duck Dynasty guys we knew was a huge dream," says Dan Beckering, who heads Southwest Christian High School in Chaska.
On Sunday, Oct. 6, the show's bearded Uncle Si and his nephew Al will come to the Twin Cities for a joint fundraiser. The Robertson's stories of faith, family and good clean fun will benefit Southwest Christian and Chapel Hill Academy.
"It's hard these days to find something on TV in our family where we can all four of us just sit down and watch this together," said high school senior, Jack Lausch.
Like its camouflaged characters, come Sunday piles of T-shirts will be in full fashion. Duck Dynasty's simple message is something students just can't seem to get enough of.
"Everyone can enjoy it no matter your walk of life or age. There are seven of us in our family and even the 5-year-old loves the show, laughing at Si and Jase," Tyler McNatt said.
It will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Grace Church in Eden Prairie. Tickets to the event range in price from $30 to $100 each.
Nearly 500 tickets still remain available, with the exception of the $250 VIP tickets, which are all sold out.
