Driver Of Semi In Collision With Train Has Died
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- The driver of a semi that collided with a freight train in western Minnesota last week has died.
St. Cloud Hospital spokeswoman Jeanine Nistler says Eric Westin, of Pine City, died early Monday morning. Westin was hauling a load of anhydrous ammonia when his tanker was hit by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train near Murdock in Swift County last Tuesday. The train's engine pushed the semi off the road and caused a rupture and leak which led to a temporary evacuation of the area.
Three train crew members were injured, treated at a hospital and released.
