Driver Acquitted In Duluth Parking Lot Incident
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A jury in Duluth has acquitted a man accused of trying to run down a student in the Central High School parking lot.
Jurors deliberated about two hours Friday before acquitting Nathan Drift on all charges.
The Duluth News Tribune reports Drift said after the verdict that it's been "one rough ride," and justice prevailed.
Drift was accused of trying to run down a student he believed was connected to a group who had been harassing his fiancee's special-needs daughter.
Drift had driven the 16-year-old girl to Central last November when he got in a confrontation with a student. Drift said the student attacked his SUV with his fists and a brick. The prosecution argued that there was no evidence the student had a brick.
