Draft Night: Timberwolves Already Have Enough Youth
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Thursday night's NBA draft is probably going to be anti-climactic with the Minnesota Timberwolves trading the No. 18 overall pick.
But the building of the team is very much in play this off-season, and there is a local on the draft board that is hard to predict.
The Timberwolves' draft this season has a lot to do with last season -- Derrick Williams was not a bust, but he clearly has to change to meet expectations.
They are monitoring him to figure out what to expect going forward.
"The most important fact about Derrick to me, is that he turned 21 this month," David Kahn said. "He's still very, very young and I think this is a very important summer for him to demonstrate that he's serious about his craft."
What has been confirmed is that Rick Adelman is in charge -- he made the deal for Chase Budinger.
And when they brought through all the potential picks for workouts, they maybe had already made a decision that youth is not a team need.
With the 18th pick you're looking at getting another 19 year old players that you've got to build and wait for and we have too many like that. we need to get quality players.

His stock has been volatile, but only a handful of teams want what he brings.
