DPS: About 400 Arrested For DWI Over St. Patrick's Day Weekend
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials say there was a slight rise in drunk driving arrests throughout Minnesota from last year over the St. Patrick's Day holiday.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety reported Monday that about 400 people were arrested Saturday and Sunday for DWI. That number is up from 346 arrests in 2012. One fatal accident on St. Patrick's Day was reported in far northwestern Minnesota, but authorities haven't said if alcohol was a factor in that crash.
DPS officials urged motorists to not risk drinking and driving and to plan for a sober ride if you're going to celebrate holidays like St. Patrick's Day.
