Downtown St. Paul Could Be Getting A Makeover
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – St. Paul's plan to revitalize and redevelop key downtown sites took another step forward Friday as the task force formed by Mayor Chris Coleman unveiled possible development plans for the city.
The task force, led by Ecolab CEO Doug Baker and Greater MSP CEO Michael Langley, created a plan that outlined four large redevelopment sites:
-- 7 Corners Gateway,
-- Macy's-Grace-Wabasha Court,
-- Central Station, and
-- Ramsey County Government Center West
The task force has recommended transforming these sites into mixed-use developments, including hotel, retail, and assembly spaces that would support activities at the Xcel Energy Center and RiverCentre.
"Our region is fortunate to have multiple excellent business centers. The recent and on-going development in Saint Paul is creating a community where business and people will prosper. The future is bright in Saint Paul," Langley said in a recent press release.
The 7 Corners Gateway site is currently owned by the City of Saint Paul's Housing and Redevelopment Authority.
The city's Planning and Redevelopment Authority department will be soliciting requests from developers this year.
