LRT Service Resumes In Minneapolis After Disruption
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say light rail service in downtown Minneapolis resumed just before 1 p.m. Thursday after being disrupted because of a downed power line.
The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the station on 5th Street and Marquette Avenue. Officials said a crane came into contact with one of the overhead light rail transit cables at the station, disrupting service to trains downtown.
Metro Transit officials are on the scene and said buses have come in to transport commuters between the Target Field and Franklin Avenue stations. Officials with Xcel Energy are also on the scene to get the outage fixed as quickly as possible. Authorities say nobody was hurt in the incident.
Authorities said they are investigating the incident, but all LRT trains are back in service.
