Wild Prep For A Big Game Three
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – According to Wild left winger Zach Parise, his team has blown a lot chances at the net as of late.
"Each game we've had some good ones that we just didn't finish, and we've got to put those in," Parise said.
So many chances, yet so few goals from the Wild, who have managed just three in the first two games. But center Mikko Koivu says the many goal attempts are a positive.
"I think it's always frustrating obviously when you can't put the puck to the net, but the good thing is that we did get some chances, so we just have to believe it's going to go in sooner or later," Koivu said.
Since the beginning of April, in 16 games - including the two so far in the playoffs -- the Wild have scored more than two goals only four times. No surprise, that's four of their five wins.
"I'm sure there's lots of reasons when pucks are not going in, but you just have to stick with it and we know we're able to score goals in this league," Koivu said. "Just have to create some traffic and find the holes."
Coach Mike Yeo was coy when asked if there would be any shake-up in the lines, but he knows that a spark has to come from somewhere.
"I'm gonna be obviously a little bit vague today regarding some things, but the bottom line is that we've identified some things, and we've discussed them and we've worked on some things," Yeo said. "We're just excited to get a chance to come back and play again tomorrow."
Game three is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Xcel Energy Center.
