Dogs Rescued From Filthy Breeding Facility Ready For Adoption
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An adoption event for 133 dogs rescued this summer from a filthy breeding facility in northern Minnesota is slated for this weekend.
On Saturday morning, the Animal Humane Society said the dogs will be available for adoption at five locations: Golden Valley, Buffalo, Coon Rapids, St. Paul and Woodbury. The event starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 6 p.m.
Since July, when 102 dogs and 29 puppies were rescued from a Pine River breeding facility, the Humane Society has helped nurse the dogs back to health. Additionally, the rescued dogs gave birth to more than 70 puppies since being rescued.
Of all those dogs, some 75 puppies and 65 dogs will ready for adoption Saturday. There are a large number of golden retrievers, Labrador retrievers, German shepherds, Alaskan huskies, cocker spaniels, and several smaller breeds, the Humane Society said.
Janelle Dixon, president and CEO of the Animal Humane Society, said many of the dogs continue to face medical issues, and some will need long-term help.
She said that it's cost the group more than $213,000 to care for the rescued dogs. The group is asking for donations here.
