DNR: Ice Houses Must Be Off Some Lakes By March 7
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Officials with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said they'll be out on Lake Minnetonka on Tuesday to remind ice anglers that it's almost time to get fishing shelters off the ice.
DNR officials say ice houses must be off the lakes in the southern two-thirds of Minnesota by the end of the day on Monday, March 7. For structures in the northern third of the state, the deadline is Monday, March 21.
Shelters that are not removed by the deadline can be confiscated by the DNR, removed and destroyed. The owners can also be prosecuted.
Officials are also reminding ice anglers to help keep the state's lakes clean by picking up all trash, even if it's not yours.
