DNR: 4 Arrested For Violating Deer Hunting Laws, Fleeing Officers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said four men were arrested last Saturday for fleeing police after they were caught illegally hunting deer in northern Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said four men are in the Otter Tail County Jail after officers pursued them following a vehicle and foot chase. The men were caught illegally shining and shooting deer. The suspects have been identified as 29-year-old Carl S. Moench, 22-year-old Trevor J. Krinkie, 19-year-old Cory L. Uselmann and 18-year-old Branden L. Biksen, all of Browerville.
The DNR said two other juveniles involved in the incident have not been charged.
Officers were called by an off-duty Becker County Sheriff's Office duty last Saturday on a report of possible trespassing and shots fired near the line between Becker and Otter Tail Counties. When they arrived, they learned there had been several incidents of the four men eluding officers while they were shining and shooting at deer.
Authorities attempted to stop the four men, but they fled the area. They were eventually taken into custody after a foot pursuit.
Moench told authorities three untagged deer were at a residence in Browerville, one of which was a legal kill. One deer was shot and killed illegally by shining the night before the incident, while another was shot after hours. None of the deer had a DNR site validation tag and all three were seized. Authorities also seized three rifles, three knives and a spotlight.
