Dismissal Motion To Be Filed In Fatal Trooper Crash
RED WING, Minn. (AP) — The attorney for a Minnesota state trooper indicted on manslaughter charges in a fatal crash in Cannon Falls says he will file a motion to dismiss the indictment.
Defense attorney Frederic Bruno says trooper Scott Reps was acting responsibly and in compliance with his duties when the crash occurred last Fourth of July.
A Goodhue County grand jury indicted the 48-year-old trooper on two felony counts of second-degree manslaughter in the deaths of 79-year-old Geneva Scott and her 78-year-old husband, Norman Scott.
Reps was responding to a call when a car driven by Mr. Scott reportedly pulled in front of the trooper's squad.
The couple died at the scene of the crash in Cannon Falls. Reps suffered serious injuries. He appeared in court Tuesday and was released on his own recognizance.
