Diamond Unclaimed, Returned To Finder
MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) -- In this case, the finder is the keeper.
Moorhead police say a one-carat diamond found in a parking lot near a Little Caesar's Pizza restaurant hasn't been claimed by anyone. So it has been returned to the person who found it and turned it over to police last October.
The oval diamond has been appraised at $7,000. It has an identification number, but police say the International Gemological Institute confirmed the diamond was never registered.
Authorities say they did receive some inquiries about the diamond, but the owner could not be found. So, the anonymous person from Moorhead who found it is now the new owner.
