Detroit Lakes Man Accidentally Shot On Deer Hunting Opener
HOLLOWAY, Minn. (WCCO) -- On the first day of firearm deer hunting in Minnesota, a Detroit Lakes man was accidentally shot in Swift County.
According to a press release from the Swift County Sheriff's Office, 36-year-old Robert Schlieman was hunting with some friends just north of Holloway, Minnesota. Police say Schlieman was hit in the left abdomen after one of the other hunters shot at a deer that had just run between them.
The Appleton Ambulance, Holloway First Responders, Swift County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene, and helped transport the victim to Appleton Area Health Services Hospital. From there, he was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital, where police say he's in stable condition.
