Despite Valiant Effort By Twins Fans, #VoteDozier Falls Short
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Despite a last-minute #VoteDozier campaign on Twitter and a feed-consuming effort by Twins Fans, second baseman Brian Dozier took 2nd place in the race for the final spot of the 2015 American League All-Star Team.
When voting closed at 3 p.m. on Friday, MLB officials took the final tally and announced the results on their Twitter account, with the Royals' Mike Moustakas taking the top spot:
Earlier in the morning, the MLB announced it would be counting votes on the social networking site, via hashtags for the players' names, including #VoteDozier. Minnesotans came out in full force to offer their support.
After Dozier didn't make the cut for the starting and reserve rosters, the Twins mounted a campaign of their own to get the beloved second baseman a spot on the AL team.
Dozier even gave fans a heart-felt thank you after the votes were in.
