Denver Wins WCHA Series Against Minn. St., Mankato

DENVER (AP) -- Jason Zucker scored just 1:29 into overtime Saturday to lift Denver over Minnesota State, Mankato 3-2 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.

The Pioneers (23-10-5), who beat the Mavericks 4-2 on Friday, swept the best-of-three series and clinched a berth in the WCHA Final Five.

The Mavericks (14-18-6) led for the second straight game. Ben Youds made it 1-0 and J.P Burkemper made it 2-1 in the third period.

David Makowski tied it on the power play at 13:45 of the third period.

Zucker scored on the first shot on goal by either team in overtime.

Sam Brittain made 32 saves for Denver and Austin Lee had 31 stops for the Mavericks.
