Denver Man's Body Found In Boundary Waters Lake
TWO HARBORS, Minn. (AP) — The Lake County Sheriff's Office says a 29-year-old man from Denver, Colorado, died after jumping from a cliff into a lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
The sheriff's office identified the man as Chase Winkey. His body was found Thursday in about 20 feet of water near the cliff that he and another person jumped from while swimming.
Authorities were called to a report of a swimming accident on Makwa Lake around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. The Lake County Sheriff was assisted by the U.S. Forest Service and St. Louis County Search and Rescue in the search and recovery.
Winkey's body was sent to the medical examiner in Hibbing for an autopsy.
