Denver Beats Minn. St., Mankato 6-1
DENVER (AP) -- Anthony Maiani scored two goals and assisted on another as Denver defeated Minnesota State, Mankato 6-1 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game on Saturday.
Luke Salazar added two goals for the Pioneers (6-4-2, 5-2-1), who scored three goals in the first and third periods. They outshot MSUM 35-30. David Makowski had a goal and two assists and Matt Donovan chipped in two assists.
Beau Bennett also scored for Denver.
The Mavericks (2-6-4, 2-6-2) were 0-for-7 on the power play. Eli Zuck scored their only goal late in the second period.
Phil Cook had 19 saves and Auatin Lee 10 for MSUM.
