Dems Have Cash Edge In Race For Minn. Legislature

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Democrats seeking control of the Minnesota Legislature have a financial edge over Republicans who currently hold power.

Campaign finance reports posted Tuesday showed House and Senate Democrats outraising Republicans so far this year, most dramatically in the Senate, where Republicans are struggling to rebound from a sex scandal.

A little more than three months ahead of the November election, Democrats also had more to spend. All 201 legislative seats will be on the ballot.

The DFL House Caucus had $1.2 million on hand after raising an equal amount through July 23. The House Republican Campaign Caucus had $1 million after bringing in $672,000.

The DFL Senate Caucus also had $1.2 million to spend after collecting $1.3 million. The GOP Senate Victory Fund had $860,000 in the bank after raising $410,000.
