DeLaSalle's Anim Named AP Player Of The Year For Boys Hoops
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — DeLaSalle senior Sacar Anim is the Minnesota Associated Press Player of the Year award winner for high school boys basketball.
The AP's all-state team was announced Monday, with Champlin Park's J.T. Gibson, Hill-Murray's Marshawn Wilson, Bjorn Broman of Lakeview Christian Academy in Duluth and Gary Trent Jr. of Apple Valley joining Anim. Trent is a sophomore. The others are seniors.
Anim helped lead DeLaSalle to a record-tying fourth straight state championship over the weekend. The Islanders beat St. Paul Johnson for the Class 3A title. Minneapolis Henry in 2000-2003 and Southwest Minnesota Christian from 1999-2002 were the others with four boys basketball titles in a row.
The 6-foot-5 Anim will play in college at Marquette. He averaged 24 points per game this season, including 32 points in the championship.
