Dayton Defends MNsure After Security Breach
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton is defending Minnesota's online health insurance exchange after an accidental release of the private data of more than 2,400 insurance agents.
MNsure officials say they quickly remedied the error by an employee, and will investigate it. Dayton says Friday that mistakes and glitches are to be expected ahead of the Oct. 1 launch of the online marketplace that will deliver federal health care changes to Minnesotans.
Dayton says he still has confidence in MNsure's leaders and staff. But some legislative Republicans say the breach highlights concerns about whether the new agency has sufficient protections for private data.
Two Republican senators are seeking a special meeting of a MNsure oversight panel to review and address the security breach.
