Dayton Declares Saturday Sir Paul McCartney Day
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Saturday is Sir Paul McCartney Day in Minnesota.
Gov. Mark Dayton issued that proclamation as the ex-Beatle prepares to perform at Target Field in Minneapolis.
Dayton recognized McCartney for his musical career spanning nearly six decades. The proclamation also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first — and only — Beatles concert in Minnesota.
McCartney performed with the Beatles at the old Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington in 1965. His most recent Twin Cities appearance was in 2005 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
McCartney brings his "Out There" tour to Target Field Saturday night for a sold-out show. With that concert, he will have performed in every Minnesota Twins baseball stadium.
