Dayton Criticizes Student Ticket Bundling
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The University of Minnesota has reconsidered its new sports ticket bundling practice for students amid growing criticism.
In a statement Friday, the athletics department says it's re-evaluated the policy in response to feedback "from a small group of students." The university will return to making single-sport season tickets available to students, while also offering discounts for multi-sport season tickets.
The Student Senate voted Thursday against the new policy which forced students to buy football season passes if they want to purchase tickets to other sporting events. Many students said that was more than they could afford.
Gov. Mark Dayton weighed in Friday after learning of the policy. He told U of M President Eric Kaler he was "appalled" when he heard about the bundling policy and urged him to discontinue it.
