Dayton Buys License For Saturday's Fishing Opener
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton is one step closer to being ready for Saturday's fishing season opener.
Dayton purchased his fishing license Wednesday at the Department of Natural Resources headquarters in St. Paul. He'll be heading up to Grand Rapids for this weekend's official Governor's Fishing Opener.
He also purchased a walleye stamp and trout stamp.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon purchased her fishing license at Chalstrom's Bait and Tackle in her native Duluth. Like Dayton, she'll be fishing Saturday on Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids.
This will be Dayton's first Governor's Fishing Opener, a tradition that dates back to 1948.
