Dayton Appoints Weiler To District Court
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Mr. Leonard A. Weiler as a District Court judge in Minnesota's Seventh Judicial District on Monday.
According to the governor's office, Mr. Weiler will replace the Honorable Skipper J. Pearson who retired earlier this year. His seat will be chambered in Milaca in Mille Lacs County in Minnesota's Seventh Judicial District.
Weiler works as the Managing Attorney for the Seventh Judicial District Public Defender's office where he manages public defender operations within Stearns County while maintaining a criminal caseload.
He received a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Moorhead State University in 1985, and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 1991.
Weiler is a member of the Stearns County Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee as well as the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Council Criminal Subcommittee. He also served as one of the original team member participants which created the Stearns County Drug Court and the Domestic Violence Court.
He lives with his family in Sartell.
Minnesota's Seventh Judicial District contains Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd and Wadena counties.
