Dad Accused Of Abandoning Son Waives Extradition
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Authorities say a Minnesota father accused of abandoning his 11-year-old son after their home went into foreclosure has waived extradition from California.
The San Luis Obispo County district attorney says 60-year-old Steven Alexander Cross appeared Wednesday in a California courtroom, where he waived extradition. He remains in jail with no bail set.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Cross is expected to return to Minnesota within two weeks.
Cross was arrested Monday in the central California coastal town of Cambria, where he worked at a deli. He is charged with neglect of a child for allegedly abandoning his son in July while the boy was sleeping. Authorities say Cross left notes saying his son should go to a neighbor's and asking the neighbors to take care of the boy.
