Curiocity: Mike's Mix — Red Russian
Every Friday, Mike Augustyniak will be picking up a new cocktail recipe from a local mixologist. Throughout October, he's getting his inspirations from Dustin House. This week's selection: the Red Russian, a simple spin on the classic Manhattan cocktail.
Ingredients
2oz Cherry Vodka (preferably infused)
1oz Sweet Vermouth
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Garnish: 2 cherries
Directions
Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a lowball glass filled with ice and garnish with 2 cherries. This drink can also be served straight up and chilled in a martini glass. Garnish with only 1 cherry.
Taste Test
I like a good Manhattan; this one definitely has a different flavor compared to a normal Manhattan. You taste the vermouth, but not the tanginess of the rye or the bourbon. This is a drink for someone who likes sweeter drinks.
