Curiocity: A Tour Of Barbie's Dreamhouse Experience
Whether you're a newcomer to the world of Barbie or a fan since the first doll hit store shelves more than 50 years ago, there's a new exhibit at the Mall of America that's sure to attract your attention.
Barbie's Dreamhouse Experience is, well, just that -- a very pink (100 gallons of pink paint), very glittery (more than 20 pounds of glitter), interactive experience. And one that's not to be missed.
Starting this Friday, kids of all ages will have a chance to see how Barbie lives -- from her expansive shoe closet to the sweet and delicious goodies coming out of her kitchen.
The 30,000-square-foot exhibit is located on the third floor of the Mall of America, where the former Bloomingdale's store used to sit.
From the time the doors open to Barbie's Dreamhouse, kids are given a pink bracelet that will personalize their tour and open opportunities for their own interactive experiences.
But why take our word for it, let Barbie herself show you a few highlights as we step inside her pink palace.
Upon arrival, a large, very pink high heel fountain greets guests to the front door of Barbie's mansion.
The entryway of Barbie's house is full of some of her best looks -- dozens of Barbies in an array of pink dresses line the walls while her iconic profile lights up the ceiling.
Before the tour begins, one must "sign the guestbook" and check in so Barbie knows you've visited. Plus, you'll be asked to enter your name so your tour can be personalized.
Selfie time! Take a photo with Barbie's wall camera that you'll be able to check out and purchase at the end of the tour.
After a short "ride" in the elevator, the next stop is Barbie's kitchen, where you can mix up and design your own cupcake.
Take a sleigh ride through Barbie's freezer.
Next up is the living room, where of course, Barbie has her own horse.
Then show off your vocal range with a little karaoke while tickling the ivories of Barbie's pink piano.
Check out Barbie's desk, where you can play on her computer.
Step outside on Barbie's balcony where you can check out the expansive view from the Dreamhouse suite.
Inside Barbie's bedroom, you'll be personally greeted as you lay under the stars and coast into dreamland. Once the sun comes up, it's time to get some work done, like sending a personalized postcard to some of your best friends.
The pièce de résistance of the tour may just be Barbie's expansive closet, where you can dress up in some of her best looks and see her vast collection of accessories.
But you won't find any shoes in this closet -- I mean, please. Obviously, Barbie has a separate closet -- full of glittery lights and music -- just for her sole sisters.
Not only will you get a glimpse of Barbie's mansion, but you'll take a trip -- by private jet, of course -- to Barbie's workplace in Paris.
Barbie's not the only one who's a busy working lady, you also get a chance to choose your career -- will you enjoy the spotlight as a pop singer or strut your stuff on the runway? Or both!
Before your stay ends, check out Barbie's Dreamhouse Experience tour bus, where kids can watch Barbie episodes and pose for a few more photo opportunities.
