Crow Wing Sheriff Asks County To Declare State Of Emergency
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Due to recent rains in central Minnesota, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office Division of Emergency Management is requesting the Crow Wing County Board declares a state of emergency.
The Crow Wing Sheriff's Office said the preliminary estimates of the damage to the area is $330,000.
Storms that rolled through the area Monday dumped large amounts of rain in a short amount of time.
On Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued flood warnings as the Mississippi River swelled to almost 10 feet.
On Thursday, the sheriff's office also asked boaters to watch their wake when out on the water.
Sheriff Todd Dahl said lakes and rivers are at extremely high levels. There have also been reports of docks underwater and shore erosion.
To help curb damage, Dahls is asking boaters to be mindful of their wake and to operate far from shore if pulling wake boarders, water skiers or tubers.
