Crews Strike Gas Line In St. Paul
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Construction crews working in St. Paul accidentally ruptured a gas line Wednesday morning.
The accident happened at about 10:15 a.m. near the area of Farrington Street and Arlington Avenue.
Crews there struck a 2-inch gas line, according to Steve Zaccard with the St. Paul Fire Department.
The streets have been blocked off in the area, and a number of homes were evacuated as a precaution. Tests have been conducted inside some homes, but crews found no evidence of gas inside the houses.
Xcel Energy has responded to the scene and is determining how to shut off gas to the ruptured line.
