Crews Investigate Explosion, Fire At Minneapolis Home
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Crews were dispatched to a possible house explosion in Minneapolis Sunday morning, after witnesses reported hearing a loud boom, according to officials.
Crews arrived on scene to find a home on fire on the 4200 block of 26th Avenue South. Neighbors told crews they heard a large boom and saw the windows of the home blown out.
Firefighters found the fire in the basement, where they were met with heavy heat. According to the battalion chief, there was some older ammunition that had been in the basement for years.
Authorities are still working to find a cause of the fire.
A woman was transported from the home with minor injuries but mainly as a precautionary measure, according to authorities.
The chief said the fire was difficult to fight because there was a lot of heat but crews were able to knock it down.
