Crews Battle Large Grass Fire In Blaine
BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) - Crews in Blaine battled a large grass fire on Saturday afternoon.
Officials say crews were dispatched to a fire that was moving north towards 109th Avenue around 11 a.m.
Several departments, including the U.S. National Parks Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, responded to the 83-acre fire.
As of 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Blaine police said the fire was under control, though roughly 30 firefighters were working to extinguish hot spots.
At this point it is not clear what caused the fire, but officials say there's a risk for wildfires in the spring due to gusty winds and dry weather.
No injuries were reported and no homes were damaged.
