Crash Temporarily Closes I-35 South Of Twin Cities
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The southbound lanes of Interstate 35, near Northfield, were highly congested Monday morning after a multi-vehicle crash.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation said the crash happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. on southbound I-35 near Highway 19 and the Elko New Market area, which is near the exit for Northfield.
Authorities didn't have any details on the crash, other than to warn motorists to expect delays in the area.
Officials said the area is extremely slippery and motorists are urged to slow down and drive with caution.
MnDOT said the southbound lanes of I-35 were closed early Monday morning but reopened around 10 a.m., though crews continue to investigate the crash. Motorists should take notice in the area as authorities may still be on the scene.
