MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A United States District Court judge sentenced a Red Wing woman to 15 months in prison Monday for using counterfeit money to buy items at retailers like Target only to return them for real cash, court documents showed.
Judge Patrick J. Schiltz sentenced 37-year-old Rochelle Roen on one count of conspiracy to pass counterfeit money. Roen pleaded guilty to conspiracy on Jan. 12, 2011.
According to court documents, Roen was in conspiracy with two others: Markeeta Wesley, who was sentenced to 37 months in prison, and Terrell Barnes, who was sentenced to 57 months in prison. Together the three robbed retailers of more than $70,000.
