County Sheriffs: Dramatic Increase In Heroin-Related Deaths
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The number of heroin-related deaths has increased dramatically, according to Hennepin County officials.
Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek, Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom and Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart will issue a warning about heroin use at a press conference Thursday. They plan to discuss new and disturbing trends and the recent cases in the metro area.
Officials say there is a new concern about heroin use increasing among teens and young adults because painkillers are a gateway drug that can lead to heroin addiction.
The press conference will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the second floor training room at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility, 401 S. 4th Ave. in Minneapolis.
