Costco Recalls Ground Beef Due To Possible E. Coli
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A local Costco is recalling an undetermined amount of lean fresh ground beef due to the possibility that it could be contaminated with E. coli, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The possibly contaminated product includes 383 units of 88 percent lean fresh ground beef (88/12) with the Costco item number 33724 under the Costco label.
The product was sold directly to 342 consumers at a Costco in Coon Rapids between Sept. 4 and Sept. 7.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service was notified of an E. coli illness on Oct. 17, which was later determined to be linked to the ground beef from Costco.
Anyone with this beef product in their freezers should discard it immediately. Costco has also taken necessary steps to contact every customer who purchased the ground beef product.
