MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- On Friday, President Trump labeled churches and other houses of worship as "essential." He is calling on governors nationwide to allow them to reopen this weekend -- or threatening to override their authority and do so himself.
Here are the latest updates in the COVID-19 pandemic
- 8:36 p.m.: Mayor Frey and Mayor Carter release joint statement disagreeing with Walz executive order, urging worshipers to continue attending virtual services rather than in-person services.
- 6:46 p.m.: The Muslim American Society of Minnesota decided they will not reopen Islamic centers and masjids in the state.
- 4:00 p.m.: Reports show Wisconsin has 481 new COVID-19 cases, for a total of 14,877, and an additional 11 deaths, for a total of 507.
- 3:30 p.m.: Minnesota Twins minor league affiliate lists stadium on Airbnb for nightly rentals.
- 2:30 p.m.: The NBA tweeted that it is exploring the possibility of resuming its 2019-2020 season in late July at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida.
- 2 p.m.: Gov. Tim Walz will soon allow places of worship to reopen under new guidance from the CDC.
- 11:45 a.m.: Gov. Tim Walz will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. to discuss Minnesota's response to COVID-19.
