Corn Maze Opens Up For Fall In Minnesota
SHAKOPEE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Visitors can have a blast this autumn with a new attraction at a Twin Cities corn maze.
Sever's Corn Maze in Shakopee is known for always having a new theme and design for its more than 10-acre crop maze.
As one of the Midwest's largest mazes, it also offers up different attractions such as a corn pit, animal shows, and a giant slide.
This year, the Sever family is hoping an arsenal of pumpkin blasters will attract more visitors.
The contraptions are "professionally homemade," according to Sever's spokesperson Nicola Peterson. Small pumpkins are loaded into the barrel of an 8-foot air cannon and launched at targets in a shooting range closed off by nets.
There's also an old beat-up pick-up truck to shoot the squash at. After one weekend of customers, the truck was in need of a visit to a body shop.
"Kids and adults alike have a ton of fun with them," Peterson said.
Firing the cannon will cost customers $5. That's enough for eight small pumpkins to use as their ammunition.
