Cops Searching For Mpls. Vandalism Suspect
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Crime Stoppers are teaming up with police and offering up to $1,000 to anyone who has information in finding the man believed to be involved with vandalizing two Minneapolis businesses based on ethnic backgrounds.
Police said that at 4:15 a.m. on June 12, a man used a large hammer to smash the front windows of Kyle's Market and Calhoun Pet Supply on the 800 block of West 36th Street. Both businesses are owned by the same family and it's believed the stores were targeted due to the cultural origin of the owners.
The two businesses suffered similar damage and graffiti four times this year and repairs from a June 2 incident will cost $5,000, police said.
Police said the suspect was wearing a tan wool-type hat with a light-colored handkerchief over his mouth and nose. From surveillance footage, he appears to be a heavy-set white male, between 5-feet-10-inches tall and 6-feet-2-inches tall, between 275 and 300 pounds. He appears to have a "pot-belly," authorities said.
